Summary

RememBear is a password manager that securely stores and remembers your passwords and syncs them across all of your devices.

I contributed to several areas of the desktop and mobile apps including the creation of flows that allow users to add new devices to their accounts.

Setting up a password manager can be a complex and time-consuming task. Users must select a master password, input login details for numerous accounts, and setup multiple devices. To ease this burden, we infused the experience with moments of joy, empathy, and humour, transforming a tedious task into a more enjoyable one.

An extra layer of security

An extra layer of security

RememBear encrypts items with a master password and a unique "new device key." It stores passwords in an encrypted file on the user’s device and secure servers for backup. Only the user’s device can encrypt and decrypt items, keeping them secure during syncing and storage.

When you add a new device, the new device key can be transferred from another logged-in device via QR code, so you don't need to type it out.

If you think that was confusing to read, try making the process engaging and understandable for users 😅

In order to make RememBear as secure as possible, we had to put users through this extra bit of effort to secure their accounts, but not at the expense of an enjoyable user experience.

The longer the key, the better the encryption. But you don't want to type it!

Adding another device. Chomp!

I used bear animations to help demonstrate the workflow, while adding an element of fun, to make this challenging process a lot less painful.

RememBear was featured numerous times on the Today tab of the Apple App Store. It was even featured by Apple as their App of the Day. RememBear was retired in 2024 to allow the team to focus on other bears. RIP.
